We did not set out to address the challenges of research data management.
During a presentation to a mixed audience at a leading Higher Education institution the Director of Research Legal Services recognized that myLaminin had a unique technology that could substantially address current state challenges and risks surrounding research data management, data security, and participant data privacy.
"Cool technology...can you apply it to secure research data?"
It was this interjection that kicked off a 3-month pilot, followed by a 12-month researcher validation phase.
It was through this engagement with Principal Investigators, their team members, Research Legal Services, Research Ethics Boards, Research Librarians, and IT resources supporting researchers that we came to understand the current state challenges.
And it was engagement with many other external bodies and existing non-profits supporting researchers that we decided to deliver the next generation RDM platform.
We're not interested in merely improving existing processes but rather in tabling completely new, fresh, and better ways to manage sensitive research data, facilitate global collaboration, and comply with regulatory standards related to cybersecurity and privacy.
