How myLaminin compares

One platform, one login

Most research teams do not run one system. They run a data capture tool, a trial management system, a document system, a consent tool, a safety database and an ethics portal, each with its own login, contract, validation and training record. In Advarra's 2023 Study Activation Survey, nearly 70% of respondents reported having six or more logins per study.

Every added system is another credential and another place where the same participant is typed in again. In myLaminin, consent, eCRFs, queries, coding, safety events and trial documents hang off one participant record, and every module writes to one tamper-evident audit trail. An inspector reads one chain, and you validate one release rather than a set of connectors.

By our count, as of October 2026, matching myLaminin's coverage takes about 4 platforms on Veeva, 5 on Medidata, and 7 to 8 on site-first suites such as Advarra, CRIO and RealTime.

Capability comparison

Based on public product information as of October 2026. Included means the vendor offers the capability; Partial means it offers something in the domain that we rated below Core; Not offered means we found no such product in public information.

¹ Medidata eTMF supports the DIA TMF Reference Model. We rated the wider documents domain, which includes site files, below Core.

² Medidata Safety Gateway sends adverse event data from Rave to your safety system as ICH E2B files.

³ No ethics-review software for an institution's own board found in public product information.

⁴ Advarra runs a central IRB as a review service, and OnCore includes protocol review committee workflows.

⁵ No AI features found in RealTime's public product information.

Where myLaminin is different

  • Built for research, not only trials. Your own ethics board runs its reviews in the platform, and grant proposals route for sign-off before the study starts.

  • Research data management. Projects get a data repository with versioning, a finalization lock and repository publishing with embargo, with Dataverse and Borealis integration and DOI support.

  • Your data, your jurisdiction. Data can stay on institution-held or Canadian storage, with on-premises and cloud options.

  • Compliant by design. 21 CFR Part 11 signing with re-authentication, ICH E6(R3) critical-to-quality factors and quality tolerance limits, sponsor oversight through direct read-only access, and a supplied validation package.

  • Governed AI. A protocol agent drafts the study build, an AI pre-review checks ethics applications before submission, the trial file suggests classifications and QC findings, and documents translate against a glossary. AI is opt-in and audited, and nothing an AI drafts takes effect until a person confirms it.

Five questions to ask any vendor

  • How many logins will our staff and participants have? Count every product, portal and partner tool the study needs, not only the core module.

  • Is the participant record shared, or synchronised? Ask whether consent, eCRFs, safety and payments read one record or copy it between systems.

  • Can our own ethics board run its reviews in it? A vendor-run IRB service is not software your REB can use for its own reviews.

  • Where does our data live? Ask for the hosting region per product, and whether data can stay on institution-held or Canadian storage.

  • What do we re-validate when one module upgrades? Separate products joined by connectors mean separate releases and separate validation evidence.
