New AI Capabilities to Support Research Planning and Compliance

myLaminin has introduced advanced specialized AI capabilities built to support the research lifecycle including early-stage clinical research and clinical trial protocol development.

Amazon AI Agent Integrations

Clinical Study Research Agent - Provides structured analysis of global clinical trial information, enabling faster evidence reviews and improved context for research planning.

Clinical Trial Protocol Generator Agent - Supports protocol development through AI-generated eligibility criteria, outcome structures, and statistical considerations aligned with recognized data models.

These tools are available on an opt-in basis for individual research projects from the Project Initiation or Settings screen, and are designed to reduce administrative effort, improve and accelerate clinical trial protocol development for researchers.

Clinical Trial Management Module for Improved Operational Oversight

Many institutions manage expanding clinical trial portfolios with limited administrative resources. To support this challenge, myLaminin, at the request of one of our new clients, has introduced a new module focused on operational and financial oversight.

• Centralized, auditable tracking of clinical trials and dashboard reporting

• Clinical trial assignment and time tracking for trial managers

• Management of service rate agreements

• Integrated calendar and email functionality

• Automated invoice generation for trial management services

This module offers research offices a structured, compliant, and scalable approach to clinical trial administration.

Supporting Indigenous Data Governance Through Enhanced Controls

Universities increasingly collaborate with Indigenous communities and require systems that uphold community-led governance, ethical protocols, and Indigenous data sovereignty. myLaminin now includes enhanced permission controls within its data repository management module to deliver a ‘Partner Directory’ function to enable research teams to deliver on the Indigenous data sovereignty objectives.

These new capabilities allow researchers to create dedicated, access-controlled spaces where Indigenous partners determine what information is shared, how it is shared, and with whom. Indigenous communities or collaborators can be given sole access control rights over a research data directory. This approach supports alignment with community protocols and with established frameworks such as the OCAP® principles (Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession), the widely recognized standards for First Nations data governance in Canada.

By enabling Indigenous partners to retain decision-making authority over their data and participation materials, these controls help institutions strengthen trust, transparency, and responsible stewardship of Indigenous data across the research lifecycle.

EDUCAUSE 2025

myLaminin participated in EDUCAUSE 2025 in Nashville, connecting with CIOs, research administrators, IT leaders, and compliance professionals seeking modern research infrastructure solutions. During the event, we demonstrated:

• A complete, integrated, and secure Research Administration (RA) and Research Data Management (RDM) service

• Indigenous Data Sovereignty controls

• Compliance with NIST 800-171, HIPAA, PHIPA, 21 CFR Part11, PIPEDA, GDPR, and other regulatory frameworks

For many attendees, this was their first introduction to myLaminin. The conversations reflected a clear need for integrated, secure, and scalable RA/RDM solutions across higher education.

AWS Partner Certification Strengthens Research Infrastructure

While myLaminin provides researchers with on-prem data storage myLaminin is now an official AWS Partner, a designation that signals our alignment with the security, reliability, and scalability standards expected for research data infrastructure and services.

What this means for institutions:

• Faster adoption of new AWS capabilities relevant to research data, compliance, HPC, and AI

myLaminin Achieves Patent Milestone

We’re pleased to share that myLaminin has received a Notice of Allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for our patent application. This milestone formally recognizes the uniqueness of our blockchain-based approach.

Building on what we’ve learned, we are already developing a follow-up patent concept that we believe will bring meaningful advancements to Research Administration and RDM.
